The Boston Celtics is a haven to many great basketball players that made a mark in the NBA's history books. It's all about the talent that led this NBA team to many championships.

Yet, there is one amazing Celtic talent that deserves to be credited (mostly for his patience): Paul Pierce

Yup, this dude was patient enough to stay with the Boston Celtics since his NBA debut in 1998. He literally persevered over time, from the time that he was an emerging star, to his injury-plagued season, to finally reaching the dream of becoming the 2008 NBA Finals MVP. Looking back, Pierce was just a 16.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game college player in the University of Kansas, yet he managed to become MVP. After being drafted in his junior year, this man never looked back: his late game heroics led him to emerge as one of the top players in the Eastern Conference. With the help of another star in Antoine Walker, Pierce led the Celtics to the playoffs in 2002 for the first time in seven years of drought.

Personally, I knew Paul Pierce was a star, but he didn't made a mark on me until that playoff series in 2002 against the New Jersey Nets, where he led the Celtics to a big fourth quarter comeback and recovered from a 21 point fourth quarter deficit to beat the Nets in Game 3 of the said series. It was then that I knew that Pierce is a clutch player, and that he is capable of winning championships.

Nicknamed as "The Truth", the 9 time NBA All Star finally got rewarded for his perseverance and patience in 2008 when he led the team (along with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen) to an NBA Title and was awarded as the finals MVP. Yup, that's the truth about Pierce.
