Melvin about his life with the Denver Nuggets:

I was born in the same year that the Denver Nuggets first joined the NBA in 1976, they have been my team ever since. Most of my family are mad, passionate Denver Broncos fans and show far more interest in football than basketball. For me, basketball has always been the only sport I am interested in. The fast pace and end to end action is better than any other sport available in my opinion.

During the 1980's when I was first attending live games the Nuggets had some great years. The division title win in 1988 stands out as the greatest season for me during those years. In that season we set a new franchise record by winning 54 games. At the time I genuinely thought we would go all the way to the Championship game but in the end we lost to the Mavericks in the second round of the playoffs. Once I got over the crushing disappointment of that loss, I realized that it had been a great season overall.

After that season it took nearly 20 years for the team to repeat the Division title win. During the nineties the team became famous for shipping bucket loads of points every game with terrible defense. In 2006 it was a different story as we won the Division title again with a much improved team. We repeated that feat in 2009 and 2010. In the future when I look back at those seasons I will most likely remember them for the talents of Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups.

With these two excellent players staring for the team we broke a lot of franchise records and enjoyed two great back to back 50 win seasons for the first time in the franchises history. These two players will go down in the history of the Nuggets and they deserve their place among the great players in the history of the Nuggets.
