Growing up in LA certainly made being a Los Angeles Laker fan very easy. Never have I seen a team become "America's Team" so quickly like how the Lakers did it in 2000. The Yankees were the best dynasty in all of sports and it was hard to find that kind of team in any sport. The Lakers however were destined to at least try. With the amazing duo of Shaq and Kobe, there really was nothing like watching this incredible duo take on the Philadelphia 76ers and Allen Iverson in a completely entertaining NBA finals. The Lakers went on to win their first Championship of the millennium and it led to 2 more rings after that incredible season. The city of Los Angeles was going wild during these years and you would see Kobe jerseys in almost every city that you go to. The beauty of this team was that they were consistent throughout every year and certainly carried over into the playoffs.

However, the amazing duo split and Kobe Bryant was left to try and rebuild the franchise throughout a span of about 5 years. During these years, Kobe tried his best to really do everything on his own until finally the likes of Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol and Ron Artest came to the rescue. By creating another great dynasty, the Lakers were able to win another Championship in 2009 and 2010. The Lakers were always great with staying in touch with the community and I certainly have been able to get my share of moments with them at Staples Center. The Lakers have certainly been a big part of my life and I am happy to say that a majority of all my sporting memories will come from Staples Center. The Lakers were finally able to be just like the Yankees and certainly will always be America's team.
