Jason Kidd is arguably one of the best point guards of all time but it was in New Jersey where he was able to really make a name for himself in the league. Growing up in Oakland, California, Kidd always was around great competition as he was able to play against the likes of Gary Payton while he was growing up. When he finally made it to the pros in 1994, he started off with the Phoenix Suns and then started his career with New Jersey in 2001. This was start of a wonderful bond between franchise and player as Kidd really took on the role of leader on that team.

After just one year of hard work, he was able to lead the Nets to an NBA Finals appearance in 2002. They ended the season with a 52-30 record and certainly made it clear that they were ready for the Finals. Kidd was second place in the MVP voting and plenty of people said that he should have won the MVP award. Kidd was able to turn the franchise around and certainly helped jump start the careers of Kenyon Martin and Jason Collins. As the franchise's first Finals appearance, Kidd and the Nets faced the dominant Lakers team that had Shaq and Kobe. However, the Nets were swept in 4 games and were left empty handed.

Kidd then didn't quit and took the Nets back to the Finals to then face the San Antonio Spurs. Though they did better by letting the series reach to 6 games, Kidd was still left empty handed. It wasn't until 2010 when Kidd was able to finally win a ring with the Dallas Mavericks with Dirk Nowitzki leading the way. Kidd will always be remembered as one of the most unselfish and creative point guards to ever play the sport.
