Why you need Buffalo Bills streaming
Nicholas about his favorite player of the Buffalo Bills:
The Buffalo Bills had one of the most potent offenses in the league in the early 1990s, and running back Thurman Thomas was a huge part of it. The Bills made it to four straight Super Bowls from 1991-1993, a feat that couldn't have made me happier as a Bills fan (if only they had won one of them)! Without Thomas' duel offensive threat, the Bills would not have been the team they were.
Thomas was drafted in 1988 and was the league rushing leader already by 1990. He repeated that accomplishment in 1991 and 1993, and possesses the all-time rushing record for the Buffalo Bills with 11,938 yards. He rushed for over 1,000 yards for 8 straight seasons, from 1989-1996. Thomas wasn't just a great rusher, he was also a fantastic receiver out of the backfield. From 1989-1992 he had over 500 receiving yards each year to go along with his 1,000+ rushing yards. He led the league in yards from scrimmage for four straight years, the only player in NFL history to accomplish that feat. He finished his career with over 400 receptions and over 10,000 yards rushing, one of only six NFL players to do so.
Thomas also had a knack for finding the end zone. From 1989-1992 he had 10 or more touchdowns (receiving and rushing combined) each year. He finished his career with 88 touchdowns: 65 rushing, 23 receiving. He also achieved playoff records for touchdowns scored (21) and total points before his career came to an end.
The only black mark on Thomas' career may be his performance in Super Bowls. He had a great game in Super Bowl XXV, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown and catching 5 passes for 55 yards. His next three appearances were lackluster, however, and in Super Bowl XXVI he will be remembered for losing his helmet and missing the first couple of plays from scrimmage.
Overall, though, Thomas will go down as one of the best running backs in the history of the NFL. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. |
