I stand out in my family as the only New York Jets fan. The rest of the family including all my brothers, my father and my uncles all support the New York Giants and it would be far easier for me if I did too. I have always preferred to go against the grain and when the rest of my family was pulling for the Giants, I decided that the Jets would be my team. We lived in New Jersey at that time and my friends all supported the Jets so I at least fit in there.

That was a long while ago now and although I have left the area and lost touch with most of my old friends I still follow the Jets. I get together with my family occasionally to watch the Giants with them and to be honest, I enjoy the arguments we have about me supporting another team. The Jets have always been a better fit for me personally.

My time as a fan of the Jets was after the glory days in the late sixties when the team was one of the best teams around at that time, picking up the AFL Championship and winning the AFL - NFL Superbowl. I missed those days as I was far too young to follow football being born in 1967. I do remember the good times in the early eighties though. We qualified for the playoffs almost every year at that time. I also remember the Division Championships of the 1998 and 2002 seasons.

I was too young to remember the great Joe Namath in great detail. I do remember watching him as a child but I was too young to properly appreciate his talent at the time. I do remember another Hall of Famer, Art Monk. He only spent one season with us in 1994 after spending the bulk of his career with the Washington Redskins but it was a privilege to see such a talented player and his quality really stood out.
