Derrick Brooks tops the list of all time greats of Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To his credit, he achieved many firsts of Bucs franchise history; fourteen straight seasons with the Bucs, 11 Pro Bowl appearances, number of games played, nine All-Pro selections, and much more. He never missed a game all his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Team, a record for any player.

Brooks played the linebacker position with the Bucs between 1995 to 2009. He was brought into the NFL by the Bucs when they drafted him 28th overall in 1995. Earlier he played college football at Florida State, with Seminoles and won a National Championship for them in 1993. He also played football at Washington High School in Pensacola.

Year 2002 was Brooks' best, being named as AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, earning a ring at Super Bowl with the Bucs, making his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl appearance, named to the first team All-Pro selection - only five other NFL players achieved similar success in the same year. The 2002 core team of Derrick Brooks, John Lynch and Warren Sapp together constituted the best Tampa Bay defense in the league. With Brooks' defense shutting down the offenses of any opposing team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their one and only Super Bowl title that year defeating the Oakland Raiders 48-21 in Super Bowl XXXVII.

He was not just the best Bucs around, he was also a larger role player for the Tampa Bay area. It is tough to find a great role model like him in today's sports world and in particular Football franchises. The Florida State Seminoles has retired his the jersey number 10 in November 2010. He is known for his dedication towards charity work and his tireless support to right of education for children. He is a all-round great, the best in Bucs history, will surely make it to the first ballot for Hall of Famer sometime, and may also receive his bust in Canton one day.
