Why you should watch Dallas Stars online

Joe Nieuwendyk, a retired Canadian hockey player, is best known for winning three Stanley Cups in three different decades with three different teams. One of only nine players to have done this, he is considered one of the best face-off men in the NHL.

Nieuwendyk began his hockey career for the Flames in 1987 and was named the team's best rookie. He was traded several times and played for five different teams. In 1995, Niewendyk was traded to the Dallas Stars. Although his career with the team was only a few years, playing from 1995-2002, his legacy with the Stars was a strong one. During his time with the Stars, he helped the team win the Stanley Cup and was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as being the most valuable player in the playoffs. Niewendyk tied a record six game-winning goals and made the Stars a serious contender in the professional hockey arena.

After being traded from the team, Nieuwendk retired in 2006 with chronic back problems. Not ready to leave the world of professional hockey, he first was hired as a consultant by the Florida Panthers and then went on work for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unhappy with both of those teams, Nieuwendyk returned to the Dallas Stars in 2009 and began serving as the general manager of the team. Recognizing his excellent playing history, Niewendyk was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

Niewendyk set himself up as a strong player and became one of the most valued hockey players in the NHL. Teams who worked with him became used to his determination as well as his consistent winning record. One of
