John about his favorite player of the New Jersey Devils:

When Scott Stevens made his debut with the Devils, fans were wondering how he would fit in. The Devils already had Kirk Muller but they wanted another player that would help with the their title hopes. As a big New Jersey Devils fan, I knew right away that Stevens would really help the team. When Muller walked out, it was obvious that Stevens was the best choice. Eventually, Stevens decided that he would play for the Devils and he ended up staying for 12 seasons.

During his first season, he was fifth on the squad in scoring but he was still able to get a spot on the second All-Star Team. During his second season, he was also able to make it to the All-Star game for the rest of his career and only missing one. During his first year, they were eliminated by the Rangers in 7 games.

He then suffered a concussion the next season and so the season did not go well. Though he was able to come back and take the Devils to the playoffs, they were then eliminated again in the first round by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

His best year came in 1993 where he was able to 18 goals and led the team in multiple stats. He won several awards and was able to drive the team to the Conference finals. This was a big achievement and they only lost in the seventh game. The team was working really well together and Stevens only lost to one person in the Norris Trophy voting standings.

He ended up leading the team to their best season in 1995 where the Devils started off badly but ended up doing amazing. They were fifth in the conference and people were not expecting them to go far. They ended up getting hot at the right time and the team endedd up sweeping the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals.
